The elephant is considered a symbol of good luck in many regions of the world and this seems to be the real meaning of the animal to the residents of these villages in South Africa . Who brought them to the urban setting was Falko graffiti artist , Cape Town .
In an interview with Red Bull , Falko mind that the intention was to transform the perception of local people and show that you do not need anything more than a little paint to change the environment in which we live . The project was developed by the artist between May and October last year in various cities in South Africa and was named Once Upon a Town (something like ” There was once a city ” ) .
The artist does not tell why he used elephants as the motto of his graffiti, but the animal seems to fit perfectly in the scenarios chosen by him to develop the project .
